Families, backpackers, and business travellers alike flock to Hong Kong — and the accommodations available reflect the variety of the clientele. I previously compiled a list of the best Hong Kong hotels under ₱8,000 for families, as well as fancier options for when travellers feel like treating themselves. However, a lot of times, it’s not the price that’s our primary consideration when choosing where to stay. For many guests — in particular, those who anticipate having to drag toddlers or suitcases or both — they just need a hotel or hostel or guesthouse that’s right beside public transportation. Luckily, there’s no shortage of hotels/hostels near an MTR (train) station in Hong Kong.
To come up with the list below, I ran a search in Booking.com and selected those properties that are: (1) no more than 300 meters from an MTR station, (2) have a rating of 8.5 or higher, and (3) are equally well-reviewed in TripAdvisor, garnering 4 stars or higher. (When I choose my own accommodations, I don’t pay too much attention to TripAdvisor rankings but do I look for hotels/hostels that were rated well in both Booking.com and TA. I also take time to read the actual reviews in Booking.com; not only do they mention what guests loved and didn’t love about a place, they often contain useful tips such as what bus to take or what room to ask for.) Many of the properties below have either a quadruple room, family room, or a suite that can accommodate groups of 4 or more. Prices are as of 26 January 2018 and the photos are from the properties’ respective pages in Booking.com.

This is such a useful post. The last time I went to Hong Kong we had a pretty bad hotel. Next time I will rather use one on your list!
Thanks Sabs! Sometimes a hotel can make or break a trip. I hope you had a good time in Hong Kong anyway…
