My personal pick

If I were counting every penny, I would of course go for SoHostel — it’s cheap and centrally located. Otherwise, it’s a toss up between Safestay Holland Park and Pax Lodge Hostel for me. Both are in good neighborhoods. Pax Lodge is newer, only £1 more expensive than SHP, and I would have to share the room with only 6 other people, all females at that. It’s in the Hampstead area, so it’s probably quieter, and it’ll be close to Hampstead Heath, which I loved during my first visit to London. However, that also means it’s a bit farther away from Central London, and I will be spending more time commuting. Safestay Holland Park is more central — walking distance to Kensington Palace, actually. I would have to share the room with a lot of other people — 32 others, to be precise — but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I put a premium on privacy and would spring for a private room with ensuite bath if I could afford it, BUT if I had to share a room with strangers, I think I would actually like the anonymity of being one of a crowd. So, for all those reasons, if I had to choose, I would probably go for Safestay Holland Park.
