The Wonderland North Bali Lovina Tour: Lakes, waterfalls, a beach, and a monastery

It’s 28°C (82°F) as I write this, and the only reason it isn’t over 30° is that we’ve had a bit of rain a few hours ago. Summer season is definitely here and with it the summer heat, so while researching the places to see in Bali, my eyes couldn’t help but be drawn to the words “highlands,” “chilly,” and “fog.” It was a description of Bedugul, an area in central Bali that sits 700 meters above sea level. (Cebu, in comparison, is said to have an average elevation of 37 meters.) Cool temps, mountains, and lakes are perhaps not the first image that comes to mind when one thinks of Bali, but I think that’s all the more reason to explore that side of the island.

We booked the Wonderland North Bali Lovina Tour with Amazing Bali Tours, and their itinerary looks very promising. The tour’s standard stops include:

• Beratan and Tamblingan Lakes
• Gitgit Waterfalls
• Lovina Beach
• Banjar Hot Springs
• Buddhist Monastery
• Munduk Rice Terrace
• Taman Ayun Temple

Aside from visiting the two crater lakes in the Bedugul area, I’m also very much looking forward to stopping by the Buddhist monastery, the Brahma Vihara Arama. Its stupas look similar to those in Borobodur (in Yogyakarta, which I haven’t visited but hope to, someday) and yet the detail of the temple’s designs are said to have distinctly Balinese touches.

It’s a full day tour and we will probably need to cut it short or skip a few stops, as we need to be somewhere else by late afternoon, but it should be a happily interesting day. Has anyone been to the places included in this Bali tour? Any recommendations or tips?
