Travel inspiration for small budgets and big dreams
If I were caught in an avalanche tomorrow,
I would think: “God, this is the first time I’ve seen snow.
I have got to live
To write about it.”

Unlikely in the Philippines fortunately!
Haha! Definitely not likely.
Have you really never experienced snow?
Never! It didn’t snow the nearly 3 weeks I was in Europe last January.
That’s unlucky! I still love it even if my country is so inept at dealing with the smallest amount. Mind you we are getting better having seen much more of it recently except last year – when there was virtually none!
And of course you enjoy snowboarding and stuff, right? I tend to have idealized notions of snow — white Christmases, the first snowfall — probably because I’ve never experienced it. I’m sure it can be a real pain as well, but it would be nice to experience it a couple of times. 🙂
It’s best experienced on holiday when you have time to enjoy it that’s for sure.
As for snowboarding, If I were caught in an avalanche I’d be really annoyed with myself for it would most likely have been my own stupid fault for not seeing the signs and going into avalanche prone terrain. And I’d also be hopeful that it would be one of the times when I had planned to go off-piste and was wearing my transceiver. And that it was switched on. And that someone else was nearby with one too so they could find me. Asides that, if I was still alive of course, I’d be scared stiff, and freezing, and motivated to find anyone else and motivated to convince my mates to get one too since they don’t have them, which would mean we probably wouldn’t be able to find each other!
Are avalanches a real possibility where you snowboard?
Not if I heed the signs and comditions. Id never knowingly take any risks but theres always an element
Hey, don’t worry I saw snow for the first time I was 25 years old! It was in Vienna and it was perfect 🙂
Cool. 🙂 I hope my first encounter with snow is just as beautiful. 🙂
