A One-of-a-Kind Giveaway to Thank Everyone Who Supported Our Typhoon Haiyan Relief and Rebuilding Efforts
As a special thank-you to everyone who supported our Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) relief efforts last year, the awesome Mar Jefferson Go, a brilliant artist/designer/illustrator with whom I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating (and the honor of calling my friend), agreed to create a commemorative artwork that all our donors, supporters, and friends can download, print, and hang in their living rooms.
It’s a one-of-a-kind piece — the color pencil on wood evokes a distinctly Filipino vibe, as does the imagery: the prominent sun, the tropical flowers, the Philippine eagle. What draws the eye, though, is the image of the boy receiving a lantern. While there is still a hint of sadness and weariness in the boy’s face, his eyes almost reluctantly reflect the light of the lantern — a light that reminds him not to give up; a light of hope. And that’s really what we did last year, I think, with our food packs and shelter kits and fishing boats and rope: we asked people not to give up.
You can download a high-resolution (300 ppi, 12″ x 16″) copy of this image HERE (right-click the resulting image and choose Save image as…).
Again, in behalf of everyone last year who was given a reason not to give up — thank you, thank you, thank you!
