Just People
A quiet chat.
A place to read.
A hobby.
A yawn.
A friend.
No matter where you are, you will find that people are people. (Venice, Italy, 2011)

That balcony is to die for.
You’re great at people watching & capturing the right moments.
Venice looks incredible but I’m afraid I’d get sea sick on the little gondolas.
Thank you! I didn’t ride a gondola either — I couldn’t afford ~80 euros an hour! I shot this from the water boats that everyone uses to get around.
Someday when I’m there;) I’ll stick to pathways as much as I can and take pictures of everybody else on their little gondolas! 80 euros an hour-nooooooo!
Venice …..happy memories!! I was there in April. You have got a great eye for capturing and bringing simple beautiful moments.
Thank you! I have TONS of the usual Venice photos of gondolas and whatnot, but while I was on the vaporetto, I was struck most by the people that weren’t doing the usual tourist stuff. What was your favorite thing about Venice?
I think it would be the buildings … for some reason everything seems to ‘float’ by. I did share a gondola with the family (expensive but we had a super super deal – almost 60% off on air tickets so we cud be a bit extravagant,,, I wished I could have docked near one and explored. You pass by gates and gardens on normal streets and can see ‘life’ . but these buildings on the waterfront…such different styles too !!!
Could not see many people … ??
Oh yes I loved the buildings too. It almost seems unreal how pretty everything is, even those that are crumbling a bit.
Love your photos! My husband and I honeymooned in Italy, and first overnight stop was in Venice. It was in the month of October, hardly any tourists in sight and the night time was incredibly romantic. But I didn’t get good photos
I can imagine it now — Venice must have been the perfect first stop for a honeymoon.
Yes it was. We were in other cities in Italy but Venice is always the one that comes to mind whenever I think of our honeymoon. And that was almost 19 year ago! Next month is our anniv and I’ll remember that first night like it was just yesterday
Advance happy anniversary! Best wishes to both of you. 🙂
Great post. My favorite thing in the world is to people watch. Looks like it’s a hobby of yours too 🙂
It’s a great way to pass the time and it adds an unexpected dimension to your experience of a place. For example, I’d never imagine anyone yawning in Venice! ^_^ I’ve just been to your blog and I’m tearing up right now about the story of the grandfather who had imagined traveling to all these places. And I’m smiling at how both our About pages begin with “I can still remember…”
haha! I love that! I never noticed but that’s perfect! I love that story and I think about it every day!
Lovely 🙂 People out and about and enjoying themselves.
Thank you! Amazing how the ordinary things we do (like reading a book) can be kinda special too. Thanks for dropping by! And good luck with your poetry book!
love, love, love the moments you’ve captured 🙂 especially the quiet talk.. 🙂
Thank you Alex! 🙂
