Where would you go and what would you do if you could leave right now and go anywhere you want?
*

If I could — if I had no responsibilities keeping me home and I had enough money to buy tickets and gear — I would take a walk.

I would take a very long walk. One that would keep me moving and not thinking too much. One that would leave me a happy kind of tired by the end of the day. One where I could talk to strangers if I want to, make lasting friendships if I want to, or stay silent all day if I want to.
If I could, I would do the Camino de Santiago. Or take the West Highland Way. Or go on a coastal walk somewhere, anywhere.

Anywhere but here.

Camino De Santiago is something on my bucket list. I always feel how lucky are the ones with no responsibilities and with much money.. On the other hand, a traveller who survives each day and still travels.. Hats off to him
I often feel that way too — there are days when I wish I had enough money to just up and go where I want and not have to worry about leaving anyone or anything behind. But then, you know, I look at the things that “tie” me home — my family, mostly — and I think, I’m lucky to be tied down that way. Okay, here’s a wish for both of us: (1) that we get to go on the Camino someday, (2) that our responsibilities bring us joy, and (3) that we will always have enough money to go to enough of the places we want to visit. 🙂
I agree to that! I hope the wishes come true for both of us! Fingers crossed 🙂
I would walk or bike somewhere… where there weren’t a lot of people… where I could be with nature and where my body would be tired at the end of each day.
That would be lovely! There’s just something so uplifting when you’re out there, with nature, and even if it’s tiring, it’s a good, refreshed kind of tired.
I love that… just take a walk… I’d like to do that too, to be honest 🙂 Maybe take my husband and dog with me, but I can’t think of anything lovelier right now than being out in the fresh air!
A nice walk with loved ones sounds perfect!
If I could leave the office now and go anywhere in the world, I would go to Santorini. I’d shed my layers of winter clothing and lay on the black sand beach before dipping in the translucent water and swimming out to the horizon.
Ahhh, that would be heavenly. It doesn’t hurt to dream! 🙂

I’d want to do this. Aja! Aja!
I love hiking & walking so I might do the same…plus I’ve just finished reading Wild for the second time which only makes me want to do it more although not quite as hardcore as the journey that the author took in the book. I don’t know where I’d walk though especially because I’d want to stay clear of heat & humidity…maybe Ireland or some green countryside walking. I’d definitely pick my destination around their weather…I love daydreaming about travel and the “what if” scenario…sometimes those turn into real trips. Nice post.
And I get you on the walking/not thinking/good tired at the end of the day. I read something about how being in nature is one of the most relaxing activities because it’s one of the only ways that people are able to focus on one thing(the scenery ect) while self-reflecting, apparently it’s a rare thing to have happen, I never thought about it until I read the article and realize how true it is.
I agree about the weather! Ideally, somewhere not humid and not too hot, but not too cold or rainy either. 😀 I still haven’t figure out where that is.
I love rain & I like the cold(but not freeeezing cold)…PNW and the UK come to mind as nice climates but they’re a bit wet & grey too huh?
You must plan to do the West Highland Way. It is amazing.
I would really love to! To be honest, I haven’t really tried walking for long distances, though I would like to take it up. Do you think the West Highland Way is something a beginner can do, or should I gain some experience first?
I just returned from walking the Camino de Santiago, and it was a truly incredible experience. There was such a simplicity in waking every day, putting on a pack, and walking. And yet so much life was crammed into each and every day, it was, at times, too much to take in. And even though I just returned, all I can think about is how to go back!!
Ohhhh!!! I’ve just been to your blog and I can’t wait to read more. I can relate so much to your About page. It sometimes intimidates me, the whole idea of walking that far and the logistics and cost of it all, but everytime I hear or read something related to the Camino, my heart just bursts. It’s a sign, don’t you think? Thanks for dropping by. You’ve inspired me!
I’d get in my old camper and head West until I reach the sea. Then I’d head North until I reach the Mountains.
Sounds wonderful!
I would like to go the Himalaias in the Summer. It’s a dream of mine going there.
That would be an awesome adventure! I hope it comes true for you soon!
