SMALL-TOWN GIRLS, MIDNIGHT TRAINS

travel inspiration for small budgets and big dreams

Whenever I fly, I’m always having to recheck the airline’s website for its carry-on baggage policy because I keep forgetting the bag’s allowable weight and dimensions and the extra items I’m allowed to take along. This time I thought I might as well make a post out of it so that the info will be somewhere I can find it fast.

(Although I have to say — no baggage policy has ever stopped people from loading piles of boxes of Krispy Kreme and J.Co donuts in the overhead compartments!)

Philippine Airlines

Policy verified as of February 2, 2018
  • 1 carry-on bag
    • Maximum dimension (L+W+H) of 45 in / 115 cm
    • Maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lb)
  • Any 2 of the following:
    • Small handbag
    • Pocket book or purse
    • Overcoat, wrap or blanket
    • Small camera or binoculars
    • Laptop with case
    • Reasonable amount of reading material

See PAL’s Baggage Conditions (accessed February 2018).

Cebu Pacific

Policy verified as of February 1, 2018

.

  • 1 carry-on bag
    • Must not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm for Airbus flights, 56 x 35 x 20 cm for ATR flights
    • Must not weigh more than 7 kg (5 kg on Caticlan flights)
  • Additional item allowed: EITHER
    • A laptop and accessories in its own carrier, OR
    • A handbag

For check-in baggage, the rates would depend on the weight of your bag and your origin/destination. To check the prepaid baggage prices for your flight, click HERE.

Air Asia

Policy verified as of March 8, 2017

.

  • 1 cabin bag
    • Should not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm, including handles, wheels, and side pockets
  • 1 small bag
    • Laptop bag, handbag, backpack or any other small bag
    • Should not exceed 40 x 30 x 10 cm
  • The total permitted weight for two (2) pieces must not exceed 7 kg — NEW! As of 3/8/2017 (source)
  • “Multiple items that are strapped, wrapped or tied together will not be counted as one piece of cabin baggage.”
  • Regarding this statement: “Boxes and hiking backpacks are not considered as cabin baggage and must be checked in” — I haven’t been able to verify this yet. Actually, if you Google “Air Asia hiking backpacks” this statement can be seen in the search results (see my screenshot here) but when I click on the link itself, I couldn’t find any reference to hiking backpacks (which means the statement has probably been removed fairly recently, or at any rate after the page was crawled by Google). Will update if I hear more about it.

  1. Hi! Just want to ask. You mentioned above that for CebuPac, the additional items are not listed on their site anymore.. does this mean, no handbags will be allowed anymore? Only one carry on baggage? Thanks!

    1. Hi Soojung! Thanks for your question. I had meant to dig deeper into that topic as it was no longer in Cebu Pac’s baggage page, but then I got busy, so thanks for reminding me through your question. In their Ask Ceb page, Cebu Pacific states: “One carry-on bag is allowed for each guest. The dimension of the bag must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm on all Airbus flights and 56cm x 35cm x 20cm on all ATR flights, and must not weigh more than 7kg for Airbus (A319, A320, A330) and 5kg on (Caticlan) ATR flights. Guests will be allowed to carry additional items on board such as handbag, coat, laptop bag, camera bag, cane and crutches (for Senior Citizen and/or People with Reduced Mobility (PRM) guests).” So you can still bring a handbag. I will update the post now. 🙂

  2. Hi! Thanks for the info! I thought the hand carry dimension for CebuPac was for check-in.
Do you know what the dimensions are for the checked-in bags?
    Thanks!

  3. Hi!, I want to check if a small Portable Inverter Welding Machine (17 x 29 x 39cm : weight = 7 kgs) is allowed and acceptable for checked in baggage? or is it a restricted item?

  4. Hello, Cebu Pacific says no wires allowed in carry on. Isn’t that basically ensuring you have to check in at least one bag as everyone carries wires of some sort nowadays (phone, laptop, toothbrush chargers etc). I was trying to travel light and fast with a small carry on back pack.

    1. Hi Stephen,

I don’t know about Cebu Pacific’s restriction on wires but I do know they allow chargers in carry-on baggage, so you don’t have to worry about that. If you have another type of wire in mind, I think you can ask them for their rule on that specific type of wire.

  5. Hi! Thank you so much for your blog. We really learned a lot.
The mrs and I are planning on going to Hong Kong for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. Since this is our first tour outside the country, we are still a bit clueless on the technicalities of traveling abroad. We’re planning on buying a lot of stuff like toys and take them back home (we’ve been bitten by the toy collecting bug). I opted for the 30kg add-on baggage from CEB PAC on our trip back. We’re planning to fill it with a lot of toys and shoes (and maybe some electronics like a console or laptop or phone) We’re a bit wary however, if we’ll be having problems with immigrations about our loot. Would they be ok with it? Or would we be charged for it?

    1. Hi emn! First of all, congrats in advance on the anniversary. Treasure your times together! Regarding your question, it’s more of a Customs issue than an Immigration issue, and I’m not really familiar with Customs rules, sorry. I think what’s important is that you can prove that you don’t intend to sell it here in the Philippines. I tried to do some research for you but I didn’t really come across specific Customs rules. You might want to read these:

      http://customs.gov.ph/importation/#1.5

      http://customs.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/CAO-02-2014.pdf

      http://www.philippine-embassy.org.sg/the-philippines-2/visit-the-philippines/customs-passenger-guidelines/

      1. From what I read in the articles, looks like everything you buy abroad needs to be declared and will be taxed. Unless you are a balikbayan (they have exemptions not exceeding 10K item worth).
        Sounds really ridiculous!

  6. Hello!
I am flying in 15 days to LAX from TPE.
My flight has a lay over in Manila, I am wonder of what is the total number of pieces I can bring with me.
2 checked bags and my carry on?
In the case that I’m only bringing one checked bag, do you know if I still need to follow the no piece exceeding 50lbs?
It says its a total of 100 lbs, for two pieces.

    1. Hi Becky! The number of pieces and the weight per piece would depend on your airline and the conditions on your ticket. I do know most airlines put a maximum weight per piece (I think it’s a safety issue) and so even if you have 100 lb baggage allowance, one piece still can’t go over 50 lb.

      1. Thanks for such a quick response!!
        I really appreciate it 🙂
I am flying with Philippine Airlines, my suitcase is actually quite small, so I was thinking of buying a larger one and just selling this one but I am afraid of going over the limit of 50lbs.
Anyway, I have already emailed them.
Thank you again, have a wonderful week!

      2. I did a bit of reading and I think PAL will charge for excess weight per piece if it goes over 23 kg, even if you have a total baggage allowance of 100 kg. 🙁 But hopefully they can clear that up for you. Good luck, safe travels, and you have a good week too. 🙂

    1. Hi Noel! Thanks for the alert. Will update the post in a bit. For what it’s worth, since you wondered, those rates were obtained from the Cebu Pacific website and I am 100% sure those rates were correct when I looked them up. Rates change over time, of course, which is why I put the date there, trusting that any prudent person will double-check with the airline in question when a significant amount of time had passed between stated date and current date. Difference of PHP 50-300 in 9 months though! I wish their customer service improved in proportion. Thanks again. 🙂

      1. well i have been booking flights on their website for several years and as far as i know last year was around 180 peso for 15kg -now its 224 peso .

      2. I finally figured it out. 😀 I wondered why there was such disparity in the amounts we were talking about.

  7. Helo, can i ask you if it is okey that i can bring 2 check in luggage with a 16kg each .in Cebu Pac..and 7.5kg carry on bag is this okey for the Cebu pac.Thank you

      1. Hi Rose,

You can bring 2 16-kg bags if you have a baggage allowance of 40 kg, or if you have a 30-kg baggage allowance and you’re willing to pay standard rates for the 2 kg excess.

Carry-on bags are limited to 7 kg only.

By the way, since you sent me 3 follow-up comments in a span of 5 hours, I would just like to note something. I do not sit around all-day writing and answering comments on my blog. I have family, work, and other more important responsibilities. This blog is something I do on my free time and I do not get paid for this. If you are in a hurry for answers, I suggest you get help from the company you are actually paying to help you, in this case Cebu Pacific.

        Good day.

  8. Hi! Will I need to pay an additional fee for a stroller? ( I’m bringing my baby with me) aside from paying the excess baggage? Thank you.

    1. Hi Rowena. Have you tried checking your airline’s website? The information is usually found there.

  9. Any idea if Cebu Pacific will allow me to bring my pliers in either my carry-on or check-in luggage? total length of my pliers is about 5 inches.

    1. Hi Weng! As far as I know, pliers aren’t in the list of prohibited items so I think they will let you bring it. I can’t be 100% sure though as airlines/airports have a lot of leeway in terms of what they will not allow (like some airports allow umbrellas in carry-on baggage and some don’t).

  10. Hello, is it allowed to bring for hand carry : 1plastic bag with full of chocolates,1 back pack and 1 sling bag? From dubai to phil?total kilo 13kg.

    1. Hi Marlon. If you are flying either Cebu Pacific or PAL, you can read their policies on hand carried luggage in this article. I don’t know how lenient they are in the Dubai airport, but if the rules are strictly followed, you can’t bring the plastic bag full of chocolates in addition to your other bags and your backpack can’t exceed 7 kg.

  11. Halo me I ask a question
For domestic manila to cagayan de oro how much free luggage and exist how much /kl

    1. Hi Jerlie. Usually 7 kg ang allowed for handcarried baggage tapos tingnan mo sa ticket mo kung may free check-in baggage ka ba.

  12. Hi its my first time to take pal airlines, i always take cebu pac……… about how many kilos are alliwed and if ever i have excess kilo into my check in baggage and hand carry can i pay at the airport or not? Manila to tuguegarao flight.thanks and have a great day.

    1. Hi May. Handcarried baggage allowance is 7 kg. Your checked baggage allowance depends on your fare class — just look at your booking confirmation, it should be stated there. If you have excess baggage, you can pay at the airport. Good luck with your trip!

  13. Hi, I’ve just availed the 30kg add on in Cebu Pacific however, I’ve only noticed that they have a 20kg weight limit. for ATR flights. Will there be a problem with my baggage allowance because of this? Thanks.

    1. Hi JC, I’m afraid I don’t know how Cebu Pacific will handle your situation, best to get answers straight from them. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

  14. Hello! Good day! How much will I pay for a 15kg additional baggage pg sa airport na ako mismo magbabayad? D kc ako nakapagprebook ng add baggage q thank u inadvance

    1. Hi Leine! I’m afraid I don’t know what the current fees are for additional baggage if sa airport ka na magbabayad. You can try asking your airline directly (either through email or Twitter). Good luck!

  15. Hi, if for example my baggage allowance is 40kg, and i have two luggages, does it mean that it is 40kg for each luggage or 40kg should be the total weight of my two luggages?because the actual weight of my two luggages combined is approx 50kg…im flying through cebpac from dxb to mnl…thanks!!!

    1. Hi! Thanks for taking the time to leave a message, I really appreciate it. And minsan nawawalan din ng pasensya haha!

  16. Hi. Kudos to you for this blog, one of the nicest out there – Simple and helpful. I got curious with the questions but was even more captured by how you extended assistance. I also particularly liked “Travel Is My Soul Food” where you talked about responsibilities and your persistence in catching “the midnight train going anywhere.” From someone who have had a few and is aiming for more, I’m wishing you great travels.

    1. Hi Mary June! Thank you so much for your kind words. Nakaka-inspire. I wish you more great travels as well. Checking out your blog right now… xx 🙂

  17. Hi there! I’ve learned a lot from your blog regarding travel, particularly about your tips to avoid offloading. I’m flying out abroad alone tomorrow and I’m really nervous both about immigration and the most recent airport MO. Anyways, thanks to you, I was able to get confirmation that chargers are okay for hand-carry luggage… what about power banks? 🙂 I’m flying via CebuPac, btw. Thank you for taking the time to help us out and more power to your blog! 🙂

    1. Hi Sash, sorry I wasn’t able to reply in time for your flight. I was out of time and didn’t have the time to go through comments till now. I hope your flight went well.

  18. Hi good day po ask q lng po qng nsa 31 klo n ang baggage q ei hanggang 30 lng tlga ang nkalagay dun.magkanu po ang dpat qng bbayaran po per kilo?dubai to manila po.slamat

  19. Hi, may I know the new charge for excess baggage from Manila to Cagayan De Oro. Is it per kilo of per piece of baggage hence I am on connecting flight of same Philippine airlines. Or does it just go directly to transfer directly to domestic plane without checking the weight of my baggage?
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Leo, kindly check the website of Philippine Airlines for their excess baggage charges. Your baggage allowance is for the TOTAL weight of your baggage, not for each piece. I believe if you are on a connecting flight, your baggage can be checked through, meaning you don’t have to get it and check it in again in Manila.

  20. Thanks for the post! It was helpful. Also, the comments section isn’t so bad either. 😉 I’m glad to hear chargers are okay to bring in carry-on luggage. As much as possible, ayoko buksan ang bag ko sa airport coz ya know… Thanks again! 🙂

  21. This is very helpful.. But I just wanna make sure.. Can I bring sachets of shampoo and toothpaste aboard a Cebu Pac flight? I am uncertain about this part.. I know they do not allow bladed items as a hand carry, does that include a leg shave or mustache shave? thanks

  22. Hi i will travel from Amsterdam and i will only transfer flight in Hongkong to manila, , do you know how much the extra baggage? And philipines airlines have a 7kilo in hand luggage but KLM have a 12kilo ..is this will be a problem

    1. Hi Jashly,

Basically, you follow the rules of whichever airline you’re flying, so if your carry-on luggage is over 7 kg, you will have to limit it to 7 kg when you get on your Philippine Airlines flight, even if it was accepted by KLM.

Regarding the fees for excess check-in baggage, it varies with the airline/route, so I would suggest you go directly to the website of whatever airline you’re flying.

  23. Hi, i am flying jakarta to manila this coming dec 15.. my boss bought me aticket without check in luggage, that means i am only allowed for 7kg. Can i still add backpack with some stuff and a paper bag? Cebupacific airline

    1. Hi bhing. Technically, the additional items you are allowed to bring are:
      – Handbag
      – Coat
      – Laptop bag
      – Camera bag
      – Cane/crutches

That said, I’ve tried bringing a backpack (which I use as my laptop and camera bag) several times and I’ve never been questioned about it, so you can probably do the same thing too.

  24. Good evening po, gusto ko lang po itanong kung carry on baggage 7kg. tapos may body bag po ako na dala na laman mga personal things like phone and ipad wallets. Is that okay? Or do i need to pay for the excess? Thailand-phil. Cebu pac. Thanks po.

    1. Hi Rica! I think that’ll be okay. I’ve tried bringing a backpack with my electronic gadgets in addition to my carry-on baggage and they let me through naman, so I think a body bag should be fine as well. Safe travels! 🙂

    1. You can bring it as part of your hand luggage. If you have a separate laptop bag, it won’t count towards your allotted 7 kg.

  25. Hi I’ve just booked flights for later on this year. I’ve been trying to figure out if Cebu Pacific still allow additional items as your article states. I can not find on there ask ceb page where you got the information about the additional items such as handbags and computers. I rang the Ceb hotline but they weren’t very clear.

Any chance you can shed some light on the matter? TIA

    1. Never mind! 🙂 i found the answer on the page. much more helpful than the hotline. Thank you so much for your post. I had to type the question exactly as in the picture before i found it!

    2. Hi Lyn.

      First, go to https://crmweb.flyceb.com/AskCEB/

Then click on “Prepaid Baggage” from the list of topics in the left side of the page

Then, from the list of topics that appear in the main part of the page, click on “How many pieces of carry-on bags may be allowed on board?”

(I don’t blame you for not being able to find it, it’s not a very intuitive flow, and I can’t link directly to that question either.)

Anyway, right now, it still says: “Guests will be allowed to carry additional items on board such as handbag, coat, laptop bag, camera bag, cane and crutches (for Senior Citizen and/or People with Reduced Mobility (PRM) guests).”

    1. Hi Jeffy, I don’t see why not. I haven’t seen it in any list of prohibited items so it’s probably fine to bring as carry-on.

  26. Hi good day po, ask ko lng po kung ok lng i have 3 luggage, yung 2 po for check in 23×2.. And yung isa po for carry on.. Bale riyadh manila zamboanga po connecting flight pal po.. Ok lng po ba na yung carry on ko isa is luggage po and handbag?? Hoping for your reply.. Thanks

  27. Hi, good evening. I just want to ask about my hand carry. PAL poh yung sasakyan q from hongkong to bacolod. I’m just worried sa size ng hand carry q.

  28. This blog is very helpful and entertaining as well! Kudos to the blogger! I just bumped into this page while browsing and spent little time reading comments. ☺ thank u!

    1. Thank you liz! <3 You just don't know how inspiring your words are. Salamat! 🙂

  29. Hi! Ask ko lang if may dala akong backpack and gym bag parehas ba yun ititimbang? Cebpac po airline ko, international flight. Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Princess! Isa lang talaga dapat ang main bag mo — either yung backpack or yung gym bag — at yun ang ititimbang. Tapos ang pwede idagdag: handbag, coat, laptop bag (which can be a backpack), camera bag, cane/crutches.

  30. Hi! Ill be going to Japan via cebu pac. Would you know what’s the allowed dimension of check in luggage? Or are they just after the weight of the luggage? Thanks

    1. Hi Heartsnbril! For check in luggage, I think there are no specific dimensions that have to be followed, it’s mostly the weight that’s important. I think the exception — I remember reading this somewhere before but I can’t remember if it was Cebu Pac — is if your luggage is highly irregularly shaped, in which case you’ll have to check with the airline if they will accept it.

  31. Hi! I buy for 40 kg luggage allowance is it possible tha i can buy again for another additional 30 kg luggage allowance domestic manila to mindanao via cebu pac airlines..

    1. Hi Mohaimen! According to the Cebu Pacific website: “Each guest may purchase only one pre-paid baggage allowance per booking.” So I think you may only buy up t0 40 kg luggage allowance. If you have more baggage, I think your options are to pay the Excess Baggage fee or ship them separately.

  32. Hi po..ask lang po,kung ok lang ba na 2 trolly bag luggage for check in,11kls.and 21kls each..my baggage allowance is 20…so my babayaran pa ba ako …at may back pack for hand carry and one handbag for my personal belongings..

    1. Hi Azzil. Kung 20 kilos lang ang baggage allowance mo, at sobra sa 20 kilos ang bagahe mo, yes may babayaran ka for excess baggage. Kumuha ka na lang ng prepaid baggage na 40 kilos.

  33. Hi. Good day.

My girlfriend and I will be traveling to HK via Cebu Pac.. As per the luggage details, we are each allowed to carry a 7 kgs luggage. Does this mean that we can’t combine our luggage carry-on weights? We are planning to bring a backpack and a wheeled luggage. Though the size of our wheeled luggage do meet the required dimensions, Is it ok to if we have the wheeled luggage exceed the 7 kgs limit since we do have a combined 14 kgs allowable carry-on bags? note: the total weight of the backpack plus the wheeled luggage will definitely be less than 14 kgs allowable luggage weight.

Hope you can help on this and thank you for your assistance.

    1. Hi DK.

I haven’t seen any rules regarding combining carry-on baggage. What I do know is that Cebu Pac (and many other airlines) will let you combine your prepaid baggage allowance if you are booked in the same ticket. (You can read about that here: https://smalltowngirlsmidnighttrains.com/2015/04/15/combine-baggage-allowance-group)

I don’t know, though, if the same rule would apply to carry-on bags so I would suggest you get in touch with Cebu Pac directly so you can be 100% sure of the answer.

      1. Thanks!.. This is a big help.. I have booked the tickets through a travel agency and we might probably on a same record, but I’ll just call the agency as well as the Cebu Pac just to be sure. 🙂

BTW, this blog is a really big help especially for those who hates calling customer service due to long waiting time.hehe.. 🙂 Thanks again and have a good day… 🙂

      2. And thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to reply. Most people don’t. Hope everything goes well and you have a great trip. 🙂

  34. Good morning po
From thailand, matanong lang po .. Im flying PAL tas 30kg po ung pede kong icheck in kaso 2 luggages po un. Pede po ba un or mag babayad pa ako ?? Saka pede pa po ako mag hand carry on ??

    1. Regardless of your check-in baggage situation, pwede ka talagang mag-handcarry ng up to 7 kg na bag.

  35. hi 🙂 im flying to dubai nxt tuesday via cebu pacific.i have 2O kgs baggage allowance.allowed po ba na 2 check in luggage (trolley)10 kilos each?and can i bring medications like vitamin c and glutathione in my check in luggage?also malaking perfume?thanks

    1. Hi Hazel! I’m afraid I’m not really sure about the check-in baggage for Cebu Pacific. I suggest you ask them directly, that way you can also ask them about your meds and perfume. Good luck!

  36. hi I am going to the Philippines and only want to take hand luggage the allowance is 7kg if I took 10kg and paid the difference could I still take it on board

    1. Hi lavune! It would be best if you ask your airline directly on whether or not they will allow those items in carry-on luggage. What I know is that Cebu Pacific makes you check in your hair dryer/iron (at least as of August 2015).

  37. Helow. I just want to ask. My airlines is pal. But its showing in my luggage 2pc. Wats the meaning of tht? Each luggage how much kg should be. Dubai to phil.

    1. Hi Bianca. That is for your check-in baggage (not carry-on baggage). You can bring 2 pcs of check-in luggage but their TOTAL weight should not exceed the baggage allowance that is stated in your ticket.

  38. hello! Are electronics allowed as a carry-on?? I’m planning to bring my 21.5 inches imac computer.. it’s less than 7kg.. would they allow it? since i don’t want to check-in my computer,i’m scared it might get damaged or lost, u know… and also, is it okay if i won’t place it in the overhead? my airline is PAL, destination DVO-MNL..

    1. Hi KG! To answer your first question, yes, electronics are allowed as carry-on; in fact, most airlines would allow you to bring a laptop in a separate laptop bag and it will not count towards your 7 kg carry-on allowance. I don’t know what the specific rule is for iMacs but I imagine it shouldn’t be too different for the rules on laptops. As to where you can put in, generally the choices are either in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you. I’m not sure if they will allow you to place it elsewhere. If you want, you can ask PAL directly by tweeting them your question.

  39. Hi!

I am flying to Cebu via Cebu Pac and I was wondering if I am allowed to bring a backpack (instead of a handbag, etc) as my additional bag to the free 1 hand-carry bag.

    Thank you

    1. Hi Cris! I think as long as your backpack isn’t too big, okay lang. I’ve tried bringing a backpack as my additional bag — it was where I put my laptop and electronics, so my plan was, if they were going to question me about it, I would say it was my laptop bag. But they didn’t question me about it. 🙂

  40. Hi,

Your blog/bookmark was really helpful. All summarized and stated the important reminder for luggage reminders. Also read the questions by other travels but some are dated last year. So, I just want to verify the add-on hand bag/camera bag. It’s still allowed? We will have an international flight with CebuPac this August. I tried their website but the additional items are not posted. Will this additional item/bag be weighed and counted with the main bag summed to 7kg? Or only the main carry on bag will be limited to 7kg?

    1. Hi Diana!

Yup, those are still allowed and will not be counted towards to 7 kg allowance for the handcarried bag. I checked just now and their website says: “One carry-on bag is allowed for each guest. The dimension of the bag must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm on all Airbus flights and 56cm x 35cm x 20cm on all ATR flights, and must not weigh more than 7kg. Guests will be allowed to carry additional items on board such as handbag, coat, laptop bag, camera bag, cane and crutches (for Senior Citizen and/or People with Reduced Mobility (PRM) guests).”

I don’t blame you for not finding it, their website is kind of tricky. You go to https://crmweb.flyceb.com/AskCEB/ and then on the left, there’s a list of topics, click on Prepaid Baggage. Questions related to prepaid baggage will then load, and you can then click on the question “How many pieces of carry-on bags may be allowed on board?”

  41. Hi! I’ll be flying to Cebu this August via PAL. I booked it with a travel agency. She emailed me saying “Please be reminded that you are allowed 7kg carry-on baggage + 10 kilos baggage for all passengers from Manila to Cebu and vice versa.”.

Does this mean I am allowed to bring 2 bags? One hand carry which could weigh up to 7kg and another 10kg as check in baggage?

Sorry for asking, as this will be my first time to flight. 😉

    1. Hi loveischild!

Yes, that’s correct. You can bring one check-in baggage (maximum weight of 10 kg) and one hand-carried bag (maximum weight of 7 kg).

For handcarry — In addition to your 7-kg carry-on bag, you can bring any 2 of the following items:
      – a small handbag
      – pocket book or purse
      – an overcoat, wrap or blanket
      – a small camera or binoculars
      – laptop with case
      – a reasonable amount of reading material

Good luck with your flight and please feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

  42. …just wanna ask lng po via PAL internat’l flight from Riyadh to Mnla…I got 46 kg total weight baggage allowance..each piece shud b 23 kg…but i weighed both piece..i got 30 and 25 respectively…will i’ll be paying the excess weight for each piece?..coz based on their rules, excess baggage per piece is 375sar…so ill be paying 375sar both? So 375sar x 2 = 750sar all in all?

    1. Hi Trafalgar! I’m not very familiar with the check-in baggage computations but that looks about right.

  43. hi..i already book the ticket of cebu pal..i just wanna ask if there is included the 7kg handcarry..?ask i purchase on 20kg..in my ticket i saw there that istated free baggage allowance not included,.thank you

    1. Hi Mylene. All passengers are entitled to have the 7 kg allowance for handcarried baggage. “Free baggage allowance not included” probably meant the check-in baggage.

  44. hi I just wanna ask. for the flight thru Cebu pacific, im going to bring a stroller, will they allow me to bring it as a carry on and not as a check in? thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Eyna! Based on the Cebu Pacific website and some of their Twitter replies, I think you would need to check in the stroller. They will check it in for free though, so you won’t have to purchase baggage allowance for that. 🙂

  45. hello, i just want to ask if pwede ba mag hand carry ng 3 phone, 1 laptop at 1 bluetooth speaker? tpos 7kg na yung backpack ko. yung gadgets nka hand carry na bag.. ok lng po ba yun?

    1. Hi Janice! Well, you’re allowed a laptop bag in addition to your 7-kg carry-on luggage, and usually (based on my experience anyway), you can get away with putting your other gadgets there too. 🙂

      1. same po ba kahit sa PAL? i plan po kasi na magdala ng trolley as handcarry (sakto sa dimensions and weight specified by pal) then magdadala pako ng backpack. is it ok po kaya? narita to manila flight.

      2. Hi Chez! PAL allows 1 carry on bag and 2 extra items, which can be a small handbag, purse, overcoat/wrap/blanket, small camera/binoculars, laptop with case, or a reasonable amount of reading material. I think if your backpack is small enough and only contains items like your camera and/or laptop with their chargers, you can get away with it.

    1. Hi Precious! Which airline is that? I haven’t yet heard of any airline in the Philippines that does not offer free carry-on baggage allowance, so most likely your booking already includes that. To be sure, you can check the ticket/itinerary that they emailed you and read the Terms and Conditions. (In the Cebu Pac itinerary, that’s usually in page 4 of the Itinerary under “Prepaid Baggage.”)

  46. Hi good morning…I have flight on march 12,going to Phil..I just want to ask if I can have 7kls handcarry for free …In my ticket 20kls is my baggage allowance..It’s cebu Pacific airlines

    1. Hi Donnalyn! I think all Cebu Pacific passengers have free 7-kg carry on bag allowance. To be sure, you can check the Itinerary that they emailed you — it’s usually at page 4 of the Itinerary under “Prepaid Baggage.” Safe travels!

  47. Hi.il be travelling later. I have purchased prepaid baggage allowance but im sure ill be excess. Any idea how much PAL is charging for the excess baggage.thanks!!

  48. Hi i just want to ask , may ticket na po ako and i purchased baggage allowance 20~kg.

To be sure, check mo yung Terms and Conditions ng ticket mo — like sa Cebu Pacific, nandun yan usually sa page 4 ng pinapadala nilang itinerary, under Prepaid Baggage, may nakasulat “You may carry one item
inside the aircraft cabin, provided it weighs 7 kilos or less.”

      1. I’ll be travelling later going to phils po and i got Cebu pacific airline po. I saw the itinerary and same naman sa sinabi mo. Salamat sa mabilis na pag reply.

        -god bless

  49. hello po, ask ko lng po nag purchased po kmi ng 20 kg baggage allowance,, ung po ba na free 7kg is included na dun sa total na timbang ng 20 kg? or can we bring 7kgs baggage (free) and another 20kg (purchased)? cebu pacific intl flight. salamat po

    1. Hi Arlene! Separate sila. Yung 7 kg is for handcarry lang — free. Yung 20 kg is for yung bags na i-che-check-in nyo. 🙂 Have a safe trip!

    1. Hi Billy. What airline are you going on? It’s best to verify with the individual airline. (For example, AirAsia will only allow 1 extra item in addition to the cabin bag.)

    1. Hi Alex. You’re only allowed one main cabin bag plus 1 or 2 (depending on the airline) extra items. Perhaps if your second backpack is your laptop bag, baka makakalusot. You can try asking your airline about it, just to be sure. Good luck!

    1. Hi Yin, based on my experience sa Cebu Pac, sometimes they weigh it, sometimes they don’t. Usually pag sa tingin nila hindi naman sosobra ng 7 kg, hindi na nila iwe-weigh. Pero there’s no guarantee that they won’t weigh it so just make sure na talagang 7 kg or less yung carry on bag mo.

  50. Hello. Pwede po bang e-check-in baggage ung 7kg free hand carry. For example 5 persons kmi, pwede kayang pagsama samahin namin ung 7kg free tapos gawin naming check-in baggage?

    1. Hi Mariz! Sa pagkakaalam ko, hindi pwede i-convert ang hand carry allowance to check in baggage, kasi to be honest, paraan talaga yan ng mga airlines (especially yung mga low-cost airlines) na magkapera sila, yung pinagbabayad tayo for check-in baggage.

  51. Hi, i have a flight from riyadh to manila via cebu pacific. Ang total po ng hand carry ko umabot na sa 10kg lahat lahat. Clothes, chocolates, laptop, phone. Since 7kg lang po available ano na po dapat ko gawin para sa 3 kg excess? Thanks

    1. Hi Johnsen, paglumagpas na sa 7 kg, pinapa-check-in na nila yan. I suggest magpurchase ka na lang ng prepaid checkin baggage kasi mas mahal na yun if sa checkin counter ka na.

  52. Hi,

Thanks for putting this together, so helpful!

I keep reading different posts, but was wondering if you can help confirm if Philippine Airlines includes one checked in luggage when flying from Manila to United States?

I plan to have my carry on and personal, but will need to check in one baggage and am wondering if it’s already included like most international flights.

    Thanks!

  53. Hii po Admin,,Cebu Pacific po ang airlines ko at flight ko po mmya 12:45 am,,question ko lang po,,sa Check in baggage po pa Allowed ang mga Shampoos at Perfumes,at Lotions,? Thanks po..

    1. Oo, allowed yan sa check-in luggage. Pwede din sa handcarry pero dapat hindi more than 100 ml.

  54. Goodmorning po… i’m just want to ask if the 20 kgs allowed in 2 bags?

3 po kmi na passengers going to manila from sg. Our airline is cebu pacific.

    20 kgs
    20 kgs
    15 kgs..

Allowed po ba n 4 pcs ung check in baggahe nmin?

  55. Hi poh gud aftie..flight ko poh next month from bahrain to manila and din manila to dumaguete city.

  56. Good day ask q lng po i have 2 pc baggage for 23 kg each sa phil airline. Pwede po ba isang luggage lng approximately 30 kg and may dala kong 32inch na led tv is it okay? Wla po bang magiging problema thanks

    1. Hi Alfred. Siguro mas mabuti kung sa PAL ka magtanong para sigurado at sa kanila talaga manggaling. Try mo sa Twitter or Facebook page nila, or kaya tawagan mo na lang. Good luck!

  57. Good day PO..Ask lng PO ako f pwd ba sa airport nlang ako kukuha ng check in prepaid baggage?

  58. Hello po..ask ko lng po if i can carry 7 kg coz in my E ticket wala pong nakasulat na hand carry…20 kg lng po ang nakalagay at Cebu Pacific airlines po.

    1. Hi Grace. Lahat naman yata ng Cebu Pacific passengers may 7 kg allowed na handcarry. Tingnan mo sa fine print sa ticket mo, usually nandun sa last page, under sa heading na Prepaid Baggage, may nakasulat: “You may carry one item inside the aircraft cabin, provided it weighs 7 kilos or less.”

  59. Hi admin, from london to manila ako and then connecting flight from manila to laoag. Carried parin ba yung international flight allowance ko sa local flights? No additional fees kahit budget economy ang ticket?

    1. Hi Rio! I think the local flight will have a different baggage allowance. Try to check your ticket and if it’s not clearly stated there, ask mo na lang ang PAL just to be sure, usually nagre-reply na man sila sa Twitter.

  60. Hi admin, From perth to manila and stop over at kuala lumpur. I just want to ask if I can put a boxes of chocolate on my hand carry-on baggage ?

  61. Hi i have one bagpack and 1 body bag… Allowed po ba yun sa cebu pacific at Philippine airlines? Pwede po ba ang liquid such as 120ml deo spray, 85 ml aficionado and 50 ml jar type cream. Thank you

    1. Hi Linn! Pasensya na ngayon lang ako naka-reply. Nagbakasyon kasi kami at ngayon lang ako nakapagsimulang mag-reply sa mga comments dito sa blog. Okay naman ang 1 backpack and 1 body bag — bale yung backpack will be your main carry-on luggage tapos yung body bag ang additional personal item mo. For hand-carry, hindi po pwedeng more than 100 ml each, so hindi pwede yung 120 ml deo mo. Good luck and safe travels!

  62. Manila to hongkong we’re planning to bring some pack of noodles and instant coffee para atleast maka tipid on our tour. Ok lng po b un s carry on bag?

  63. Hi po, flight q po sa july 3 cebu pac is it allowed in handcarry i have 1back pack and a paper bag which is puro chocolates lg ag laman pero 7kl na un chocolates then my back pack almost 3kl do i need to pay excess baggage po? or my excempted po sa dalawa?

    1. Hi Kat. Basta yung rule is 7 kg hand carry plus one personal item. Depende na yun sa airport staff if they will allow you to exceed that — sometimes kasi hindi na nila tinitimbang yung backpack at paper bag, so baka makalusot ka. But there’s no guarantee of that.

  64. Hi ask ko lng po if sa air asia flight going to Tagbilaran City allowed ba mag ” hand carry” small bag with your celphone,1charger, small power bank and mini selfiestick inside?thanks.

    1. Hi Janette! Yes, you can hand carry those items. Just make sure that you don’t go over the 7 kg limit for carry on bags. Good luck!

    1. Hi Zamn! I believe you’re only allowed to purchase 1 baggage allowance and anything beyond that will be considered excess baggage. But I’ll try to verify. What airline are you flying with?

  65. Hi just wanna ask if laptop will be included to weigh for 7 kgs. allotted for carry on baggage in international flight for cebu pacific airlines. Thank you

  66. Hindi po ba pwede mgdala ng stuff toy medyo malaki po siya may hand bag na po ako saka additonal po sana ung stuff toy pwede po ba yun

    1. Hi Dhona! Do you mean that you have a carry-on bag, plus handbag, plus the stuffed toy? It depends because there are some airlines that allow you two extra items aside from the main carry-on bag. Best to ask your airline directly na lang — if you have Twitter, usually they are more responsive there. Good luck!

    1. Hi Jhun! I’m afraid I don’t know, sorry. 🙁 You could try asking your airline directly — they usually reply in Twitter. Good luck!
