“If you play Assassin’s Creed, you probably know our next destination more than I do,” our tour guide quipped as we made our way to the medieval fortress of Monteriggioni.
Our pace intentionally slow and easy, we nonetheless went home hearts bursting with memories. For those who’ve been asking about our itinerary, here it is.
Katoomba is the foremost town in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. It’s only 2 hours away by train from Sydney. It’s small enough to see in a single day — its main sights anyway — but it’s worth taking the time for a more leisurely exploration.
A 6-km walk past gorgeous cliffs and beaches was the perfect way to cap our Sydney trip (and it didn’t hurt that virtually every scene was Instagrammable.)
Family room, ensuite bath, fireplace (and stage!) in the lounge, all in a Nat’l. Trust-listed Art Deco redbrick. Blue Mountains YHA is a backpacker’s dream.
If you go over my blog, you’ll see I’m not one of those people who immediately go on a rant on social media when they have a bad experience with certain establishments. But the situation unraveled pretty quickly, to the point that I had to write them an email saying, “I will exhaust all possible options and legal remedies.”
