On our last day in Taipei, we went searching for silvergrass at Yangminshan National Park, waded into a sea of flowers at the Guandu Flower Festival, and had a wonderful soak in Taipei’s famous hot springs.
Various legends surround the origin of sky lanterns in Taiwan. One says that a well-known general, surrounded by foes in a desperate battle, once used sky lanterns to call for help from allies beyond the enemy’s perimeter.
