As if I needed another reason to visit Hampstead Heath! The park is already in my provisional list of places to visit in London (if I ever get to London — see The London List) and in fact I’ve already taken note of how to get there. But now I’ve started reading Smiley’s People by John le Carré and Hampstead Heath is the scene of the General’s death — always a good reason to drop by a place, right? I’ve actually seen the BBC miniseries and I know how it ends, though I don’t remember the details too much. Alec Guinness was a perfect Smiley; I also loved the actors who played Toby Esterhase and Connie Sachs. I thought it was funny that Patrick Stewart was playing Karla — like, oh, look, it’s Obi Wan Kenobi vs. Jean-Luc Picard.
I haven’t had much time for blogging lately (and not much time for reading either — I don’t think I’ve gotten past page 60 of Smiley’s People!) so just in case my schedule doesn’t free up in the next couple of days, I’ll take this time to wish everyone reading this a happy Christmas!
