I haven’t read as much of the King Arthur stories as I know I should, but I have always been intrigued by the idea of Avalon, the magical island where Excalibur was forged and where King Arthur was later taken to recover from battle wounds. It is said that King Arthur never really died, and that he would one day return to lead his people.
This photo, for some reason, makes me think of Avalon. I know it doesn’t quite fit — for one, the vegetation of Bohol, where this photo was taken, is probably quite different from Britain’s — but the early morning light somehow imbues it with a mystical quality. It seems like a place where legends walk the earth and dreams — dreams, not daydreams — come to life.
