This is a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night…

…but to me it is not just a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night.

It is a reminder that dreams can come true, even the dreams you never dared to dream.

It is a reminder that biting off more than you can chew can sometimes be a good thing.

It is a reminder that darkness can drown you, or it can make you flounder enough for you to try, out of desperation, to create your own light.

Those are reminders I occasionally badly need, and I hope you too have that one photo that reminds you of all that.

  • Hi, i love your posts about paris and i would like to ask how do you find security when you were in the city? Local friends of ours sort of warned us that its delikado daw when its evening time na :/

    • Hi berryduchess!

Naku, I’m probably the wrong person to ask — the latest I’ve been out in Paris was probably around 10 PM, walking from the Musee d’Orsay to our hotel near the Eiffel Tower area, and in that area (I think that was the 7th arrondissement), wala naman akong na-detect na danger.

Pero napansin ko lang, in both areas, kapag evening na, the streets are relatively quiet na, wala na masyadong tao, so that’s what made it a little scary. I actually didn’t expect it, I thought the streets would still be quite lively at night pero hindi, at least dun sa areas na yun. I don’t really know about other areas, kasi usually din pag-evening, dun na lang ako gumagala malapit sa hotel.

Some of them (I think they’re of Eastern European descent, magaganda) have this petition that they want you to sign and they crowd around you, tapos pala some of them are picking your pockets na. 😀

      • Omg that is scary! I dont think i will stay out til 10 pm because the hotel is few kilometers away from the hotel. What about in the galeries lafayette areas?

And when u noticed the hand, ano ginawa mo?? I might be going around by myself pa naman.. :/ in London at 8 pm tahimik na ang paligid pero we walked several times ng almost 9 and we were okay and arrived safely

      • Natawa nga ako sa sarili ko kasi I was so surprised na the girl was trying to pick my pocket na pala, I shouted at her (I forgot what I said), parang gusto ko syang suntukin haha, and then one of her companions seemed to reprimand her, tapos lumayo na sila.

I’m not sure sa Galeries Lafayette area, I was there mga around 6 PM, medyo marami pa namang tao that time so hindi sya scary.

When are you planning to go? 🙂 I’m a bit jealous! I want to go back. 🙂 And I really want to go to London too…I’ve never been. 🙂

      • Hahaha omg tlaga! End of this month 🙂 i will keep this in mind then and be extra careful. London is a beautiful city and i really love it even before i went there. I fell even more when i visited last January. You should go! I was scared before coz of some articles i read pero the plce is relatively safe. 🙂 plus walang language barrier. Brits are very approachable. If u get lost you can just ask and they will be happy to help 🙂 shopping is cray cray!!!!! I want to go back too 🙂 its on my list and ive been only in London ha and thats a week. Pero d ko pa naexplore lahat.

      • Oooh!! Lapit na!! Winter in Paris. *sigh*

I’m hoping to go to London September next year, and I also want to go to Scotland, and see other parts of England, so I don’t know how I’m going to fit everything in. 😀

Oooh, I’m so excited for you! Will you be going alone??

      • 2 weeks maybe? Nakakapagod kasi maglakad coz their train system requires a lot of walking talaga, to think I am somehow used to long walking coz im in SG na ha. Aww thanks! I hope to see din Scotland. Oh they say you should watch a theatrical show! that I didnt get to do when I was there.

I will be with hubby but most of the time I will go around alone. Same as what I did when I was in London.

      • Omg, speaking of walking in SG, I was there this weekend with my son. We stayed in the Woodleigh area and went to the Zoo, the Bird Park, and Gardens by the Bay. After 3 days of walking and carrying my 14-kg son around, parang lahat ng muscles ko gumi-give up nah. Haha! Yung interchange nyo dyan, parang walang kwenta, halos two blocks worth din minsan maglakad between train lines! 😀 Yun nga lang, at least may aircon and roof, hindi naiinitan. 😀 (I actually love your train system there. Mahirap lang if you’re carrying a kid. Haha.)

I loved walking in Paris! I mostly walked there. I’ll hit you up for London tips in the future ha… ^_^

  • Oh sure, I will be happy to help 🙂 Kaya nga simula nung nandito nako i donated all my heels hahaha! no use of having them here unless you bring it and use them once you’re in the office na. That’s the thing with London train system. If in SG, you want to go back dahil me nalimutan ka or nagkamali ng baba (esp pag sumobra ka ng station) you can just walk on the other side at makakabalik ka na. In London, you have to walk far (like kabilang ibayo talaga) kasi yung pabalik na tren e nasa kabilang dulo. Plus SG MRT is really clean compared dun. Woodleigh is on purple line and it’s one of the newest line dito.kaya ok pa ang amoy hehe. kaya yung iba talaga they have trolley for kids ksi its easier to push the kiddos plus you can put the things in the trolley din 😛
