1,000 Words: You Don’t Know the Half of It

1000w_rome_2011_colosseum_02This photo reminds me, albeit tangentially, of the expression “you don’t know the half of it” — to be more specific, the other half. Because this photo is actually just half of a photo that I took during my travels in 2011.

Without that other half, can you tell where this was taken? Do the color and texture of the building materials ring any bells? Is it old? How old? Is it new? From whose perspective? Is it American? Asian? Australian? European? Did someone live here? Did someone die here?

Oh, what a difference a half makes.
